Virgin brown fused aluminum oxide has been crushed and sized from certified crude bauxite. ALOX is a tough and durable abrasive blasting media that can be recycled several times. With its chemical properties and aggressive characteristics it has the ability to provide a deep anchor pattern or etch in applications when surface preparation is critical, such as surface profiling for subsequent protective coatings.
When used as a blasting media, aluminum oxide is a virgin fused abrasive (brown or white), crushed, screened and sized to meet industry ANSI standards. It is a tough, medium density abrasive known to be cost-effective in blasting processes due to its recyclability, which prevents the need to frequently purchase additional blasting media supplies. In addition, aluminum oxide blast media is known for its high density and angular sharpness, which makes it among the most versatile of the blasting media types for use in both wet and dry blasting processes.
White Virgin Aluminum oxide media is a friable, high purity, medium density abrasive also available in a wide range of grain classifications including coarse, medium, fine and powder. White Aluminum oxide is used in applications requiring high purity and/or where a highly friable abrasive is specified.
Applications include: Lapping, polishing, refractory coating, decorative, and non-skid, and abrasive blasting.
Aluminum oxide can also be formulated for use in bonding applications to create slip-free surfaces on indoor and outdoor walkways, making it a preferred choice for preventing slip-and-fall accidents in industrial settings.
