Surface Blasting for Aerospace

Our aviation and aerospace blasting solutions establish optimal performance:

  • Abrasive blasting: Using non-ferrous abrasive media — such as glass beads, various plastics, organic nutshell abrasives — offer chemical-free blasting methods ideal for titanium and aluminum surfaces. We carry various abrasive blasting systems, allowing you to select equipment that fits your surface preparation needs.
  • Shot peening: This process uses reusable steel shot to dimple the surface and create overlapping divots, which strengthen metal surfaces. These compressive stresses change the material’s microstructure, decreasing the likelihood of cracking and corrosion.
  • Paint stripping: Surfaces that already have a layer of paint require cleaning and preparation before for a subsequent future finish or further use. Abrasive blasting is a cost effective and efficient means of removing defective paint.  Various abrasives are capable of cleaning  and finishing the surface to ensure the piece is ready for a final newly prepared finish.

Surface Finishing for Aerospace

Following blasting, you will need to properly finish pieces before assembling aerospace and aviation equipment:

  • Coating application: Achieving the best results depends on carefully following any instructions and adhering to precise standards for correct coating application.
  • Surface preparation: By removing contaminants, abrading the surface and applying a primer, aviation-grade paints will adhere better to surfaces.
  • Corrosion control: External forces, harsh conditions and corrosion can weaken aircraft, so opt for barrier coatings and regular maintenance to keep surfaces in good condition.

Advantages of Aerospace and Aviation Blasting Equipment

Precise surface preparation in aerospace and aviation is critical because it ensures structural integrity and reliable adhesion.

Our blasting solutions efficiently tackle large jobs and limit wear, promoting longer aircraft and spacecraft lifespans. Many of our processes are chemical-free, making them nontoxic and better for the environment. Aviation and aerospace blasting equipment is safe for many applications, such as engine component finishing, airframe preparation, turbine blade finishing, maintenance, repair and overhaul.
